The sight of these pictures reminded me of Uncle Lyod and a story I heard about him as a very young boy.

For those that don't know my family, back in the Model A days Uncle Lyod was a county road commissioner in Illinois.

The story was my Uncle was running a road grader on a long stretch of narrow muddy road that had a deep ditch on both sides. He is about 1/2 way through this stretch when here came a farmer in a Model A pickup.

So here they are stopped nose to nose with a deep ditch on each side.
Uncle Lyod told the farmer to back up, the farmer replied "you back up"
After a few words were exchanged Uncle Lyod to the farmer "if you wont move it I will" The farmer didn't believe him with the results that the grader flipped the pickup into the ditch.

When I was in the six grade this story came back to me when I was driving a old Farmall tractor. Much the same situation except the Farmer was driving a new Cadillac. Twice I had asked him to move his car, twice he told me "in just a bit" The words that popped out of my mouth came automatically "if you wont move it I guess I will move it for you"

By the time I got the old Farmall cranked and was in the seat the farmer moved his car.

Would that dumb 14 year old tried to move the car?  OH Yes! and you can take that to the bank

Anything that any of my uncles did, well that was the way things were done. As a little boy to me all of my uncles were seven foot tall!
