Mary is grandmother to Lee Helle
Nettie (sister to Mary Knowles) and her husband. The only thing known about her husband is that he was killed in action shortly after this picture was taken.(world war one) They had no children and Nettie never remarried.

My grandfather McCluen died when I was in the 3rd or 4th grade but due to family disputes I seldom visited his home, thus my memories are of him when I was the age in these pictures. He used to take me to the local ball games and the treat I loved was a bag of fresh hot roasted peanuts in the shell

Harry McCluen, son of Hank and Marry. Harry served in
the army during world war 2, came home after the war, got married and ran a gas station in Wyoming, IL. until just a few years ago when he retired. It has been said that Harry had the 1st self serve gas station in the world. If you stopped for gas when a ball game was on you waited until the inning was over or got your own gas,

WYOMING - Harry W. McCluen, 87, of Wyoming, died at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at Wyoming Funeral Home, The Rev. George Hirst will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Wyoming Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Wyoming Ambulance Service.
Born Aug. 29, 1919, in Wyoming, the son of Harry and Mary (Knowles) McCluen, he married Laura Malamphy on May 5, 1948, in Wyoming.
She survives. His parents and two sisters preceded him in death.
He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the European Theater, and was a member of Wyoming American Legion Post 91. He owned and operated McCluen’s Gas Station in Wyoming for many years. He was a member of Wyoming United Methodist Church.

Mary McCluen 1954-1956. After her Hank died Mary built and operated a small grocery store. After Harry was discharged from the army they built a gas station at one end of the store.
